Happy 4th everyone! It's very weird not seeing anything about the holiday here, only a couple of signs here and there. I will get right to it with an update.... Yesterday we started the day by checking out the university and the LPI office. Then we walked around the city in a really nice tour. To the left is a video of a plaza with a church. There was a band playing there and lots of ice cream vendors. There were also these white pigeons which I have never seen before. There was a fountain and lots and lots of locals. Then we went to an outdoor market that is underneath a bunch of buildings, kind of like a parking garage. You can see the video of the market below. We then went to San Jose to have an orientation that was perhaps the most boring part of this trip so far. We went over safety and all that nonsense. After that we came home and quickly went to the mall to look for a calling card. Unfortunately, most of the stores were closed and finding a card was difficult, so we ended up just using the bank. Then we came home and ate a dinner with their entire family including grandparents and all. They are such nice people and very communicative and they have lots of patience if you don't know how to say something. There is a little girl here called Tammy that is just adorable and wants nothing more than to play with you. However, she is growing in the United States and comes here to see her family. She hates speaking spanish and if you speak spanish to her she will respond in english and insist that she doesn't understand spanish. Today we started with a tour of the university. There is a cafeteria and a small coffee shop there. Then we went to our classes. My teachers are super super nice. I have two teachers, and my second is my favorite. He is from Spain and is hilarious. I am in the advanced class that is composed of eight students out of the fifty, so I feel impressive. We came home and had some great food and now I'm watching tv. I have too go but i'll update this again soon. Bye! Pura vida!
Happy Fourth! I am so glad you are having an interesting time! You should be so proud of yourself making it into the advanced spainsh class! That's awesome! Have you met that Brandon from Divine Child?
